At the Women’s Resource Center, we realize that none of us are immune to the effects of domestic and sexual violence. Either through our personal experience or through seeing its devastation on our communities. We’d like to think that because of our expertise and knowledge, we are never vulnerable to becoming victims of interpersonal violence. But unfortunately, everyone is at risk of becoming a victim of this violence. Which is why it’s so important to us to make sure that we and the ones that we love always have access to the best, most competent, trauma-informed services offered.
As one of the only places in the country where you can get a sexual or domestic violence forensic exam outside of a hospital, we’ve been providing these kinds of services for decades. Nowhere else can you get aftercare services in a building that is built entirely around you and what you may need after a sexual assault. And we are constantly updating and changing our practices so that we can always offer our best to the community.
To continue providing these services and expanding what we can provide you, we’ve started the 45:45 Celebration. We’re celebrating the fact that we’ve been in Norman for 45 years in 2020. It’s a big deal to us-we’ve morphed and evolved and changed quite a bit since 1975 and we’ve still got a lot of changes coming. We want to invite you to partner with us as we share these changes with you exclusively.
What is the 45:45 Celebration? We are turning 45 (!!!!!!) in 2020 and we’ll always take a good excuse to celebrate. We’re asking the community to come alongside us in this celebration and pledge to donate $45 a month for the next year in honor of our 45th birthday. $45 a month ensures that these services are available to anyone who needs us 24/7/365.
As a partner in the 45:45 Celebration, you’ll have first access to the changes we have coming in our 45th year. With exciting, BIG changes coming of who we are, we want you to share in the excitement with us. From changes to our name, mission statement, location, and more, we’re not looking at 2020 in hindsight-we’re looking at it now.
