Crisis intervention aims to intervene as soon as possible after the onset of the crisis in order to enable the individual to overcome it, minimize the usage of maladaptive coping strategies and avoid complete psychological breakdown.

Developing a safety plan is a critical step. While you may not have control over your partner’s actions, you do have a choice about how to respond to him/her and how best to get you and your children to safety. We understand that you may be afraid, but remember you are not alone.

At the Women’s Resource Center, we provide crisis intervention along with advocacy. This means that you can call us anytime 24/7 and we can provide safety planning on how to stay safer if you are still experiencing sexual or domestic violence or stalking. We can also provide safety planning to help you stay safer no matter where you decide to go from here. We know that there is a lot to think about and decide. Advocates can help you process these feelings and decisions in a calm and trauma-informed environment. Crisis intervention provides you with support, resources, and information about what steps you can take next.
