Who We Are

About Us.

For more than four decades, the Women’s Resource Center has been a place of safety, support, and hope for people impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking in Norman and throughout Cleveland County.

Our work begins wherever a survivor is.

Whether someone needs a safe place to stay, support following a sexual assault, help navigating the legal system, counseling, safety planning, or simply someone who will listen and believe them, WRC provides confidential, trauma-informed services designed around each person’s individual needs and choices.

Supporting Survivors. Building Safer Communities.

WRC provides a continuum of services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking. Our services include emergency shelter, a 24-hour crisis hotline, crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling and support, court advocacy, sexual assault response and forensic nursing services, safety planning, referrals, and other resources that help survivors move toward safety and healing.

But responding to violence is only part of our work.

WRC also works throughout the community to increase awareness, strengthen prevention, build partnerships, and help create a community where domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking are understood, challenged, and ultimately prevented.

Our Approach

We recognize that survivors are the experts in their own lives. Our role is not to decide what someone should do, but to provide information, resources, advocacy, and support so each person can make the decisions that are right for them.

That commitment to self-determination shapes everything we do. Services are voluntary, confidential, trauma-informed, and centered on the individual needs of each survivor.

Because safety can look different for every person, so can the path forward.

What We Believe

Safety.

Everyone deserves to live free from violence and fear.

Dignity.

Every person who comes to WRC deserves to be treated with compassion and respect.

Choice.

Survivors have the right to make decisions about their own lives, safety, and healing.

Hope.

Violence may be part of someone’s story, but it does not have to define their future.

For decades, these beliefs have guided the Women’s Resource Center. They continue to guide us today as we respond to survivors, strengthen our community, and work toward a future free from domestic and sexual violence.
