Mobile Advocacy

At the Women’s Resource Center (WRC), we believe everyone deserves immediate, compassionate help—no matter where they live. For many individuals effected by domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking, geographic isolation or limited transportation can make it difficult to access critical resources. That’s why we’re committed to bringing our services directly to those who need them. Why Mobile Advocacy Matters
  1. Breaking Down Barriers
Rural and outlying communities often face unique challenges, including transportation hurdles and fewer local social services. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), survivors in rural regions may also face increased isolation due to sparse populations and limited public transit options 11. By traveling to meet survivors in safe, convenient locations, our Mobile Advocacy program helps overcome these obstacles.
  2. Ensuring Privacy and Safety
In small communities, individuals may worry about being recognized at local service agencies. Mobile advocacy offers discreet meeting spots, protecting individuals’ privacy and reducing the fear of stigma or retaliation. Research by the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) emphasizes that accessible advocacy services can be a key factor in a survivor’s ability to seek help safely 22.
  3. Providing Holistic Support
Our advocates don’t just offer crisis intervention; they also assist with court advocacy, emotional support, and resource referrals. This holistic approach ensures individuals have the tools and information they need to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. By tailoring our services to each person’s circumstances, we honor their dignity and choice—core pillars of our mission.
